If you need a specific tool from another brand, just invest in 2 batteries and a charger along with the tool. If you can't afford that, then maybe power tools aren't for you.

Also, when you set it, don't just back the spring off completely to zero tension, set it to the lowest setting. The instructions should outline what that is.

They are copying what Hilti has done. Hilti designed their wrench and tools for their fastening systems. The may not be the fastest or strongest but they are the best tool for the job

If you are using a torque adapter on a digital torque wrench you can go into the settings and set them for the offset and not worry about the math

Candlepower or candela is where it's at for me with flashlights, lumen ratings are more for light bulbs and fixtures from what i see

Fantastic! How informative. I feel vindicated spending years turning my clicker wrench back to zero before putting it away! The old boy who taught me that (god rest his soul) was correct all along. Glad to know the luggage scale works, I’ve always used one with a breaker bar when I needed more torque than my wrench could provide. I knew the physics was correct but glad to see it’s accurate. Also the crows foot info is useful, I’ve always avoided using them with a torque wrench, glad to know I can trust them without any thought provided I use them at 90degrees.

Which dewalt do you need? The answer is most likely the least powerful one would be just fine but you’re going to buy the 961 anyway. :)

Did I miss overtorque? Ie using as a breaker bar. I do this but set it to a high number. It never goes beyond the click. Bouncing on it would be another.

My torque wrench, I set it to 5 LB to tighten the pan filter in the transmission, and at 5 LB, it never clicked. I stripped the bolt. Now the car rattles at 1,550 RPM. I tried to tighten a car tire at 5 LB, it never clicks then either. It only clicks if it's above 25 LB...

Amazon is just out here letting people get ripped off like it's got nothing to do with them.

i think the other issue with the adjustable torque wrench is that its not very tightly connected to the head so when you put a large torque value on it eventually the head will slip or round off the head. i think its better then not torquing at all but something to keep in mind

Torque adapter.. it's such a small difference on most "normal" size bolts.. I don't bother calculating anymore. Found myself checking the calculation 3 times to make sure that 1lb difference was accurate. Lol

OK, I expected anti-seize to act as a lubricant (as I would with water or Jell-O or pretty much any liquid), so I expected the bolt to go farther into the threads, but I dont get why this winds up with more torque perceived by the meter while its still liquid..?

Back when I was a diesel mechanic, I attended a seminar on torquing fasteners. I never realized there was so much to it. There was a lot of good info there but the thing that stuck with me most was how much of a difference there was between torquing fasteners dry vs using different lubricants. If you aren't following the directions in that regard, there's no point in even using a torque wrench because the actual value will be so far off that it's pointless.

Milwaukee has everyone beat when it comes to cordless tools. Snap on ect... so glad I left ingersoll rand yrs ago for milwaukee. My yard tools and mechanic tools run off the same batteries!💪🏾

A torque wrench is for measuring the amount of force you hit your wife with.

Please test how neglectful use hurts the calibration: drop a wrench from a table level a few times and then shake it around in a toolbox

You do know those wrenches have a mark on the handle where the force is to be applied. I have proven the need for applying the force in the correct place on click type wrenches using a CDI torque calibrator. Bolts like cylinder head bolts often are torqued with a drop of lube or with a sealant, that must be why angle torquing is often used.

Wow, I sometimes apply antisieze to bolts on my vehicles up here in the rustbelt. I didn't realize it had such a large impact on final torque values.
